The incident occurred on the night of April 20, 2015, at the home of a woman named Brenda Lee. Brenda Lee was a friend of the suspect, and she was present during the standoff. The standoff began after a domestic dispute between Brenda Lee and the suspect, who was later identified as Jamie Lee Kitchen. Jamie Lee Kitchen was a 31-year-old man who had been accused of domestic violence and had a history of mental health issues. The standoff began at approximately 10:00 p.m.
