The incident occurred on Saturday, 27th of August, at the annual Donegal County Fleadh. The row erupted after a dispute over the use of a public space, leading to a large-scale brawl. The Garda sergeant, speaking to the Donegal News, said that the incident was “a complete mess” and that there were “serious concerns” about the safety of those involved.

All five men were excused from attending court in the interest of safety following a request from their solicitors Mr Patsy Gallagher and Mr Frank Dorrian. The five include Michael Reilly Junior, of Kishogue Park, Lucan in Dublin (31), Michael Reilly Senior, of Tailteann Drive, Windtown, Navan in Co Meath (56), Thomas Reilly, of Tailteann Drive, Windtown, Navan, Co Meath (21), John Paul Reilly, of Tailteann Drive, Windtown, Navan in Co Meath (29) and Michael McDonagh, of the Big Isle in Letterkenny, (34).
The court heard that the weapons were found in a shed, a car and a nearby garden. The court heard that the row was sparked by a dispute over a “significant” amount of money. The dispute was between two men, one of whom was a well-known local businessman.
A. Man Arrested for Violent Threats and Weapon Possession

Thomas Reilly, a 40-year-old man, was arrested and charged with two separate offenses. The first offense involved threatening and abusive behavior with intent to provoke a breach of the peace. The second offense involved possessing a foldable garden saw with intent to cause injury or intimidate.
He added “This is quite a large investigation and there may be further charges.” He asked that the case be put back until January 20, 2025 to allow for books of evidence to be served in the various cases.
